RAIN! RAIN! RAIN! ALL DAY!
Everything is soaked (except what is in our packs, as we have waterproof packs). The bottom of the tent has become a pile of wet clothes. We stopped hiking around 3:30pm and have been in the tent for hours, (since 4pm or so).
Despite the rain we have founds ways to stay busy, i.e., making lists of places to visit, doing a little yoga, playing alphabet games.
Our morning began with an amazing sunrise and coffee. We hit the trail before 8am. We went further than we planned today, passing Ramona Falls, which was gorgeous and wading across the knee deep and powerful Sandy River in the rain.
We ate a simple lunch of bagel sandwiches before crossing another river on a fallen tree.
We were ready to stop hiking around 2pm after climbing a giant hill but as we were walking on a ridge there was no where to make camp so we just kept going, through the rain.
We finally found a spot and hunkered down, only leaving the tent to cook dinner which we at inside the tent. While cooking we heard a terrifying sound of breaking branches nearby, thinking it was a bear or other large animal. However, we’re pretty sure it was simply a limb falling from a tree
